Yarrunga is a Wiradjuri word meaning 'to grow' . This title holds deep significance for me—not only does it reflect the evolving nature of my artwork, but it also speaks to a journey of love, connection, and shared roots deeply grounded in Country. It embodies the essence of moving forward, embracing change, and seeking growth.

Your home will always be where your roots lie, but it is okay to reach beyond and explore new ventures and beginnings. This artwork celebrates my breaking free and looking beyond. The uncompleted campsite symbols represent that I am always looking beyond; even though we feel complete, there is always more to learn and discover.

The texture of the artworks represents Mother Earth and its ever-changing landscapes. With its rough, not always smooth texture, it mirrors our lands and lives, which can be both challenging and serene. The colours reflect the unchanging hues of the land, symbolising the enduring connection to Country.

The many dots that form these artworks represent the footprints we walk to find what is beyond and what is yet to discover. Each dot signifies a step in our journey, a mark of our presence on the land, and a testament to our shared path of exploration and understanding.

This artwork is a celebration of breaking free and looking beyond. It is a reminder that while our roots provide a foundation, there is always room to grow, explore, and discover new horizons. Through love, connection, and respect for Country, we continue to evolve and thrive.
