Ngamurr - Meaning Daughter

from $329.00

As a proud Indigenous woman, I would first like to pay my respects to Elders past, present, and emerging and acknowledge the traditional owners of this land on which I was born and raised.

This story takes you on a journey, highlighting the gratitude we hold for the extraordinary gifts that shape our world forever. Among these gifts, one truly stands out: the birth of our beloved firstborn, our ngamurr (daughter).

My artwork celebrates this special gift. It portrays the harmonious union of our two worlds coming together, the universe unfolding, answering our prayers and giving us a blessing of a daughter which instantly became the centre of our universe.

In my artwork, you will see the presence of three partially formed circular symbols. These symbols represent our lives intertwining harmoniously to create our beautiful ngamurr, (our daughter). Through this union, our three worlds destined to be connected forever.

These circular symbols have been lovingly created using an abundance of dots to represent the many footsteps we as a family have taken together with our daughter. They also reflect the many steps she now takes on her own as she finds her place in this world.

The gentle neutral colour palette of pink and beige serves as the focal point of the artwork and represents our daughter's, warm heart and soft soul.

I would like to share a quote that sums up what having a daughter means to me.

‘Having a daughter is one of the greatest blessings in life. A true friend, a lifelong companion, and are always a close friend.’

I dedicate this story to my daughter to remind her of how much she is loved every day.
